Special Hours
What are Special Hours?
Special Hours let you change the business open and close times, and the child start and end times, for a single specific date. They override your default weekly schedule for that day only — your default hours are not affected.
Common reasons to use Special Hours:
- Closing early for a holiday or staff event
- Opening late due to a facility issue
- Adjusting child drop-off and pickup windows for a special day
Setting Special Hours for a Date
- Open the Daily Schedule and navigate to the date you want to change
- Click the i icon next to the Child Care dropdown in the top right
- In the popover, click the hours to open the Special Hours editor
- Adjust the Business Hours open and close times
- Adjust the Child Hours start and end times if needed
- Tap Save Special Hours
Special hours apply only to the selected date. Your default schedule is unchanged.
Editing Special Hours
If you have already set special hours for a date and want to change them:
- Open the Special Hours editor for that date (same steps as above)
- The editor will open pre-filled with the existing special hours
- Make your changes
- Tap Save Changes
Removing Special Hours
To revert a date back to your default hours:
- Open the Special Hours editor for that date
- Tap Revert to Default
- Confirm when prompted
KidKeeper will delete the special hours record and the date will return to your standard schedule automatically.
Child Hours Outside Business Hours
If you set child hours that fall outside the business hours for that date, you will see a warning message. You can still save — the warning is informational only. It is your responsibility to confirm the hours make sense for your operation.
How to Tell if Special Hours are Active
The i icon on the Daily Schedule toolbar changes color to amber when special hours are in effect for the selected date. Gray means your default hours apply.
