What’s the Difference Between a Library Name and an Override?

KidKeeper uses two levels of naming:

1) Library Name

This is the master food item stored in your Food Library.

Example:

Apples

This name appears everywhere unless overridden.

2) Override (“Served As”)

This is a day-specific description.

Example:

Library: Apples
Served As: Apple slices

Overrides apply only to:

  • One date
  • One meal

They do not rename the food globally.

When to Rename vs Override

Rename globally if:

  • The original name was misspelled.
  • You want a permanent change everywhere.

Use an override if:

  • The preparation differs.
  • It’s a one-time change.
  • You want more detail for documentation.
