Reading your Profit & Loss

The Profit & Loss (P&L) shows what you earned and spent in each category for a date range, and the profit left over.

Open it

Go to Finances → Profit & Loss.

Choose dates

Pick This month, This year or Last year from the Period dropdown. For any other range, pick Custom and set the From and To dates. The dates covered show under the page title.

Reading the report

  • Income: each income category with its total, then Total income.
  • Expenses: each expense category with its total, then Total expenses.
  • Net profit: total income minus total expenses. Red means a loss for the period.

Categories with nothing in the period are hidden, so the report only shows what you used.

Common questions

  • Why isn’t an unpaid invoice here? The P&L counts money when it’s received, not when it’s billed.
  • Agency payments show under Agency Payments, separate from tuition.
  • A number looks off? Open the Income or Expenses page with the same dates and check for a missing or duplicate entry.

Your Tax Package uses these same numbers for the calendar year.
