How Can We Help?
Voiding an Invoice
Voiding an invoice cancels it without deleting it. The invoice stays in your records marked Voided, so you always have a full history of what was billed.
When to void an invoice
- The invoice was created by mistake.
- It was sent to the wrong family.
- The charges were wrong and you’d rather start over than fix them.
How to void an invoice
- Go to Billing and open the invoice.
- Click More (•••) in the top right.
- Click Void Invoice.
- Review the message and click Void Invoice to confirm.
You’ll see an “Invoice voided” confirmation, and the invoice’s status changes to Voided.
What happens when you void
- Payments are voided. Any payments recorded on the invoice are marked Voided and removed from your income in Finances.
- Credits go back to the family. Any account credit that was applied to the invoice is returned to the family’s account, ready to use on another invoice.
- Extra credit from overpayments is removed. If a payment on this invoice was more than the amount due, the extra became account credit. That credit is voided along with the payment.
- Scheduled time can be billed again. The days and hours on the invoice are released, so you can add them to a new invoice.
Things to know
- Voiding can’t be undone. If you void by mistake, create a new invoice.
- Only Draft and Unpaid invoices can be voided. To void a paid invoice, first remove its payments. Once it shows as Unpaid, the Void option will appear.
- You can still view, email and download a voided invoice. This is useful if a family needs a record of it.
